About the database

The Atlas of Torture is an online hub for information about torture and ill-treatment. It was developed by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights with support from HURIDOCS.

The database compiles laws, reports, standards, handbooks, educational materials and more, all of which can be filtered in several ways, including theme, group of people affected, source of information, region and year of publication.

A submission form allows anyone in the anti-torture movement can contribute new documents to the collection.

The Atlas also includes a map of different initiatives against torture and ill-treatment across the world as well as a forum for experts and professionals from the field of torture prevention to collaborate.
